What’s food got to do with it?

For many food is fuel, something which we know we need to have in order to have the energy to get through the day. For some, food is a bind, an interruption to our busy day for which we have to reach for the quickest, easiest option, whatever will be easy to eat one-handed as we type, or drive or try to get the kids ready for school or afterschool clubs. For some food is a crutch, a powerful filler of holes where excitement, interest, love or attention should be.

We have never been in a time where we have more abundance of choice. We are constantly bombarded from the moment we get up until the moment we go to sleep with adverts, billboard, bus stops, smells of takeaway….In a sea of choice, it is becoming harder and harder to know what to choose and what is right in order to get, and maintain a healthy body.

Without a doubt food has the biggest impact on our incremental health, with power held within every day, every meal and every mouthful to either fuel illness, disease, or to help your body to prevent it. The reality is that every meal is an opportunity, a chance to provide your body with the building blocks for strong cells, skin, bones, organs. To provide your body with not only the energy to get through the day but also to provide it with suitable defences to fight off illness, free radicals and to help us to switch on and off genes which may either code for positive outcomes to our health, or negative ones.

So next time you find yourself reaching for a “treat”, take a moment to think “is this going to help my body be the best it can be or work against me”

It’s my mission to help you to wade through the mountains of confusing information to find the right information that is relevant to you, to support your health goals, be they; energy, weight loss, or supporting your good health through illness or injury.
