What to expect from the consultation?
The consultation process is much more comprehensive than an appointment with your GP. It goes into more detail about aspects that you might not immediately recognise as relevant. It's a deep, honest and confidential conversation.
Before we meet, I will ask you to complete a questionnaire and to keep a 5-day food diary. There is no judgment here and it supports me in devising a targeted, and importantly, realistic plan for you.
During our time together, which is between 1.5 and 2 hours, we will cover your medical history, family medical history, sleep, movement and the food you currently eat.
I will take some measurements; your waist and hip circumference and your blood pressure. If you have information on your weight and height then you may share this, but if you prefer not to, or do not know, that is fine.
Once I have gathered all of the details I need to prepare a plan for you will be free to go and I will spend some time pulling together all of the information that we have discussed and will draw up your own, unique nutrition and wellness plan. This may be split into separate phases so that we can introduce one phase of the plan at a time to ensure that you have a chance to implement it fully.
We can then have a short telephone call to discuss the plan and any questions that you may have. We will meet again for your follow up appointment at an interval which is appropriate, this is usually at 5 weeks and 10 weeks after your initial consultation.
Where necessary and applicable, I offer functional testing. I don’t take blood/urine/saliva/stool samples in the clinic. If testing is required, we can speak about this at the end of the consultation and we can arrange that either with a GP/nurse or at home. The results from any testing further ensure I am able to focus the plan on your specific needs.
I look forward to working with and supporting you to your optimum health. For any further questions or to book an appointment please contact me on 07990 513597.
