Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nutritional Therapy?

The foundation of Nutritional Therapy is to understand the driving factors behind illness and disease. Getting to the root cause. Nutritional Therapy looks to support the body to come back to balance, which it is always trying to do. Through the identification of nutrient, emotional or behavioural blockers, we work together to give the body everything that it needs to function as well as possible.

Who would benefit from Nutritional Therapy?

People who are struggling with any aspect of their health benefit from an objective outsider’s assessment. Even Nutritional Therapists themselves work with Nutritional Therapists! Typically I work with people who have either reached the end of their tether with a symptom or symptoms, or those who are newly diagnosed with a condition and want to ensure that they are supporting their bodies to the best of their ability.

What will happen during my consultation?

The consultation is an opportunity for me to gather as much information as I can from you about every aspect of your health, symptoms, and lifestyle. I like this to feel un-rushed, so we spend about 2 hours together. I ask about your medical history, all the way back to birth, as well as your family medical history. We discuss your symptoms; when they happen and when they are worse for you. We talk about your current lifestyle so that I can ensure that any plan I draw up for you is easy for you to integrate. There is plenty of time for questions and I explain my hypothesis on what I see and how we can make improvements together.

Will I have to do anything that I don’t want to?

Absolutely not! This process is completely collaborative and we only introduce things that you are 100% comfortable with. My advice is just that, advice. It is not instruction and there is always more than one way to achieve something. We review, discuss and agree on any actions together.

How does payment for the sessions work?

Full payment of the package in advance is required, at least 1 week prior to our initial appointment in order to confirm the session.

What if I can’t afford the package price upfront?

Sometimes budget and finances are a factor. I never want that to get in the way of you and your health, which is why I offer payment plans. These are customised to your circumstances and can be weekly or monthly. Generally, these will be front weighted to reflect my time invested at the beginning of the process.

Are the appointments in person?

All sessions are conducted over Zoom. If you are unable to make some of your appointments over Zoom then we can use the telephone. If you have never used Zoom before and think it might be a problem, please do let me know and we can work through this together.

Can you guarantee that I will achieve my health goals?

Unfortunately, I am not able to provide guarantees of results as this depends on many factors. What I can tell you is that you have my guarantee of the best service and the best plan that I am able to provide.

Is nutritional therapy just for people who are trying to lose weight?

I do work with many people who are looking to lose weight as their main goal, however, people I work with are generally looking for support with a variety of health concerns or symptoms. It is by no means the only support that I offer.

What type of people do you work with?

I work predominantly with adults, from all backgrounds and genders. If you have a desire to improve your health, I can work with you. I don’t work with people who have eating disorders or cancer, as I haven’t completed specialist training in this field. I do have a list of trusted practitioners who I am able to refer onto if you are looking for support in these areas.

I am not sure if it is right for me, can I ask some questions?

Absolutely, the more questions the better. You can book a free 30 minute session with me here https://p.bttr.to/2SZ0f0k so that we may meet, and you can answer any and ALL of the questions you may have.

How will I know if I get on with my practitioner?

We get to meet before you commit to any packages or consultations. It is really important that we have a good therapeutic relationship. Should this not be the case at any stage of the process, please do let me know and we can address it together.

Does all support stop after the package ends?

No, absolutely not! At the end of your 3 or 6 month package you can choose to move onto a follow on package which is priced to provide you with the very best in support and guidance without costing the earth.

Do I have to do testing?

This is completely up to you. I see testing as a “fast-track” way of making meaningful changes towards your long-term health and goals. There is always a test for every budget and this is something that we would be able to discuss during our sessions to ensure that we select the right option for you. I never recommend testing unless it will materially change the direction of travel for us and the plans we implement.

I want to run some tests, are they expensive?

This really depends on what you want to test for and why. Private testing has become increasingly more affordable in the last 5 years or so. If you have a desire to know what is happening “under the bonnet” for you, then we can certainly talk through the option.
