New Year, New You?
Every January we’re bombarded with the same old message: ‘new year, new you!’ It feels like we’re suddenly expected to rid ourselves of everything that makes us, us, and overhaul our lives, simply because the calendar has ticked over into another year.
New rules, new restrictions, new routines, and if we don’t manage to stick to them all, we’re made to feel like failures, which isn’t a great way to start a new year at all.
A new year certainly doesn’t have to mean a new you at all. After all, you are already brilliant just the way you are. You’re not broken, and you don’t need fixing.
The problem with New Year’s resolutions
Most people struggle with New Year’s resolutions, not because they lack willpower or motivation, but because the changes they’re trying to make are unrealistic, too dramatic, or they don’t fit into their real lives, which include work, family, stress, and many other responsibilities.
Common resolutions, such as losing weight or exercising more, often fail because they’re outcome-focused rather than habit-focused. They focus on the end result instead of building a routine to support your body consistently.
Sustainable Health and Wellbeing
If there are certain things you’d like to change, such as improving your diet and lifestyle, your energy levels or your overall health, or maybe it’s getting those niggling symptoms checked out, then you need to shift your focus away from a ‘quick fix,’ and instead realise it’s all about making small, manageable changes that can be maintained long after January is finished.
So what if, instead of chasing a ‘new you,’ you focused on feeling your best? On understanding your body, what it needs, and what it might be trying to tell you?
Nutritional Therapy in Weston-super-Mare
That’s where I can help with my Nutritional Consultation Packages or Wellbeing Packages. I can work with the current version of you, and help you make small, meaningful adjustments that support a healthier, more fulfilling way of living.
I also offer a free 30-minute consultation, where we can talk openly about your goals and how I am able to support you.
Approach change differently this year
One of the biggest benefits of working together is the accountability that comes with ongoing support. No, I won’t be standing next to you in the gym shouting for one more push-up, instead, I’m there to check in, offer guidance, and help you stay on track in a way that feels encouraging, not punishing.
That kind of support is what leads to lasting change, rather than short-lived resolutions!
